CHURCH CONCERT
As part of the Fête de la Nature (Festival of Nature), we are offering an exceptional classical music concert on Saturday, May 24th at 8:30 pm at the Saint-Jacques le Majeur Church. The Nobilis Quartet will present works inspired by nature, a beautiful musical tribute to the natural forces and beauties that surround us.
American Quartet, Dvořák: This major piece on the program is imbued with the inspiration Dvořák found in the great American outdoors. Through its dynamic movements, the composer takes us on a musical journey across the vast plains and majestic landscapes of America. It is a celebration of nature, its vastness and its power.
Sunrise, Haydn: Haydn, master of the string quartet, often found inspiration in nature. Here we present either “Sunrise,” a musical piece evoking light and the renewal of day.
Quartet arrangement of Beethoven’s Moonlight Sonata: a subtle and serene piece, evoking the tranquility of a night bathed in moonlight. This arrangement for string quartet will magnify the simple yet profound beauty of this work, echoing the tranquility of nocturnal nature.
Mother Goose, Ravel: drawn from childhood tales and myths, these pieces transport the listener to a dreamlike world where nature is omnipresent. The quartet will perform selected excerpts to illustrate the wonder and connection between tales and the natural world.
A Midsummer Night’s Dream, Mendelssohn: a piece imbued with magic and mystery, evoking enchanted forests and the creatures that inhabit them; A perfect musical representation of nature in its most magical form.
The Carnival of the Animals, Saint-Saëns: two musical tableaux that poetically illustrate the grace and majesty of these animals. These excerpts will add a playful and imaginative touch to the entire program.
