Once covered in fields of Centifolia roses and flowers for perfume, La Colle-sur-Loup was one of the main suppliers to the perfumeries of Grasse. Since 2007, La Colle-sur-Loup has celebrated the rose every year in the middle of May. But the first editions went back to the 1950s and were intended to attract the press and starlets who were on the Croisette during the Cannes Film Festival! During this extraordinary celebration, a young woman from La Colle was elected Queen of the Roses, while a star was awarded the “Roses Award.” Brigitte Bardot, Michelle Mercier and Luis Mariano were among the first prize-winners!
On the programme for this essential event, many discoveries await you for a festive day which will change your scene!
From 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., wander through the streets of the village where nursery gardens, exhibitors and craft workers specialising in roses are ready to meet you. Test your creativity over the day, by taking part in the fun and creative workshops which are on offer to you.
